Brokering Based Self Organizing E-Service Communities

The rapid evolution of the Internet and its business tools is enabling the transformation and deployment of business processes as highly modular e-services that can be flexibly and dynamically composed to form ad-hoc workflow. This research prepares for the proliferation of automated, Internet-based workflow, by contributing a suite of protocols for self-organizing brokering communities that en...

Toward the design of self-organizing dynamics

A growing demand for distributed and decentralized software, together with an increasing inherent complexity of these systems challenges traditional software engineering practices. Recently, the utilization of self–organizing processes has been proposed as a way to relieve development efforts. While Agent–Oriented Software Engineering (AOSE) provides suitable abstractions and implementation fra...

Emergent service provisioning and demand estimation through self-organizing agent communities

A major challenge within open markets is the ability to satisfy service demand with an adequate supply of service providers, especially when such demand may be volatile due to changing requirements, or fluctuations in the availability of services. Ideally, this supply and demand should be balanced; however, when consumer demand changes over time, and providers independently choose which service...

A Scalability Analysis of Self-organizing Agent Communities

A theoretical scalability analysis of a self-organizing community formed by middle agents (described in detail in (Wang, 2002)) is carried out in this paper. We provide evidence that the formation time of self-organizing communities may increase linearly with the log of the number of users and also linearly with the number of middle agents.
